Caring for timber floors after sanding and polishing
Simple maintenance habits to help protect a freshly finished floor.

A newly finished timber floor needs careful treatment while its coating cures. Follow the finishing product’s instructions for access, furniture placement and cleaning, as drying and curing times differ.
Keep grit and moisture under control
Use entrance mats and remove dust with a soft broom or suitable vacuum attachment. Clean with a lightly damp mop and a product approved for the finish. Avoid steam mops, standing water and harsh cleaning chemicals.
Protect high-traffic areas
Fit protective pads to furniture legs and lift furniture instead of dragging it. Check pads regularly for trapped grit. Ask your flooring professional about maintenance and recoating before wear exposes bare timber.
